Cracked Ice Gardenia is possibly Christopher Hanlon’s™ most ambitious creation yet. This multi-layered and mesmerising perfume captures the essence of the Australian outback, opening with a sun-burst of hidden Citrus and Spice, Geelong Lemon, Cardamon and Sour Queensland Lime. Followed by its natural heart: White Frozen Gardenia, Lily of the Valley and Tuberose. Add a touch of Black Jasmine and Bush Mint. Now delicately infuse this concoction with subtle, intoxicating base notes like Australian Sandalwood, Peppercorn, Young Tobacco Leaf, a Wild Hemp Accord and Australian Fermented Amber. The name Cracked Ice Gardenia is inspired by the unique way the fragrance is artisanly made. Flowers are first frozen, then crushed and distilled. This process creates a hyper-realistic fragrance that is both delicate and powerful – like a cracked ice flower. Cracked Ice Gardenia is both a timeless and a modern masterpiece by Australia’s FIRST Perfumer™.
‘Gardenia is a classic perfumer’s note. The flower itself is so sublime I wanted to bottle the pure essence unadulterated. Alas, the subtle but striking extract rarely lasts on skin. Perhaps this is my fascination. I discovered freezing the petals before extracting creates a longer lasting fragrance. This technique is at the heart of this creation. My first impressions: Gardenia, Violet Leaves, Green Apple and Lemon. I then infused a single discord of Chinese Magnolia, Wild Hemp, Peppercorn and Madagascan Tonka Bean. If you’re searching for a new floral to add to your repertoire – you’re in luck. This is exquisite with subtle, irreverent spices – and it lingers.’

Rather than composing the fragrance through the traditional hierarchy of top, middle and base, Hanlon’s® method allows a unified aromatic expression. In contrast, softer accords are often amplified and heavier notes are ironically attenuated. Méthode Électromagnétique™ produces a signature Christopher Hanlon® Perfume that is up to 300% more powerful. Intense, concentrated and longer lasting. Artist Christopher Hanlon® invented the genre, ignoring the 3 tiered tradition, while adopting an unorthodox aromatic interplay. Hanlon® adds: ‘95% of perfumes today are retro, in so far as they formulate according to the classic 3 tiered hierarchy’. The Hanlon® method allows softer notes to be amplified, intensely. Adding to his unique compositions, botanical notes like Australian Bush Potato are introduced – hitherto unused in perfumery. This blending culminates in fragrances that are more wholistic, pure and distinctive.
